Clive E. ADAMS Dr. Clive Adams was born in the North of Ireland where the Mourne Mountains sweep down to the sea. Dr. Adams completed his medical studies at Queen’s University in Belfast. He began his training in psychiatry in 1985, training in both Bradford and London. During his training, he grew extremely interested in research. Adams was interested enough in research that he earned a Masters in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Thereafter, he became a Clinical Lecturer in Oxford, establishing the Cochrane Schizophrenia Group. Dr. Adam’s became the Chair of Adult Psychiatry at Leeds University in 2000, and thus his Cochrane group moved with him. Dr. Adams began to become more interested in real-world randomized trials, especially focusing on the needs of low and middle income countries. In 2007, Dr. Adams became Chair of Mental Health Services Research in Nottingham University. The Cochrane Schizophrenia Group now flourishes, with 600 reviewers in 21 different countries maintaining over 200 high grade reviews. Dr. Adams has continued his interest in worldwide research, having untaken trials of care in Brazil, Finland, India, and the UK evaluating drugs, packaging of care, and mental health policy.
