Teh-wei HU Teh-wei Hu, PhD. Professor Emeritus of Health Economics University of California Berkeley Berkeley, USA Email: Teh-wei Hu received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin. During the past 40 years, Professor Hu has been teaching and conducting research in health economics. Dr. Hu currently is a Professor Emeritus of Health Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He has served as Associate Dean and Department Chair in the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley, and he has also been a Professor of Economics at Pennsylvania State University and a Fulbright visiting Professor at Nankai University, China. Dr. Hu’s areas of expertise are the application of econometrics to health care services research and the economics of tobacco control. He is the author of more than 200 publications. In mental health services research area, his research focus is on cost, cost-effectiveness, and financing of mental health services. He has published in many of the most important journals in medicine. Dr Hu is also the associate editor of the Journal of Mental Health Policy. He was the co-author of Cost Outcomes Methods for Mental Health (Academic Press, 1998). With Professor Hu’s expertise in health economics, he has served as a member of the NIMH grant review panel and the NIMH Task Force on Mental Health Services. Dr. Hu has also been a consultant to the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, the WHO, along with multiple other international organizations. In 2010, he was a recipient of the Carl Taube award from the American Public Health Association for his contribution in mental health services research.
